Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join a well-established Civil Litigation Defense practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of litigation matters, including insurance defense, construction litigation, trucking and transportation law, product liability, medical malpractice, premises liability, professional liability, commercial litigation, and governmental defense .

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent legal research and writing skills, and the ability to independently manage a caseload while delivering exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through trial or resolution.
• Represent clients in both South Carolina state and federal courts .
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, briefs, discovery requests, and responses.
• Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues.
• Develop litigation strategies and provide legal counsel to clients.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Prepare and argue motions before the court.
• Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and exhibit organization.
• Collaborate with clients, insurance carriers, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Supervise and review the work of paralegals and legal assistants.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines.
• Provide outstanding client communication while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing.
• Civil litigation experience preferred.
• Ability to independently manage multiple litigation matters.
• Experience conducting depositions, arguing motions, and preparing cases for trial.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and client advocacy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
