Lead Infrastructure Engineer - SQL Server & PostgreSQL

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience managing enterprise databases and supporting infrastructure in large-scale, mission-critical environments.
• Deep practical expertise with relational databases, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, and working experience with PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting SQL infrastructure, including Availability Groups, replication, and failover.
• Working knowledge of vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, Milvus, or Chroma, and their use in AI/LLM retrieval and search workloads.
• Experience with ETL processes, database performance troubleshooting and tuning, and tools such as SQL Sentry.
• Experience designing and maintaining monitoring and alerting solutions at scale.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, non-technical business stakeholders, and offshore or globally distributed teams.
• Experience with internal cloud applications and their infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git and Bitbucket for data.
• Demonstrated use of AI tools to automate database operations, modernize workflows, and resolve issues more efficiently, with an interest in AI-driven database automation and tooling.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning, SQL troubleshooting, and vector database platforms and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
• Experience developing AI agents, Skills, MCPs, or custom targeted agent profiles.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude for database automation, scripting, and operational tooling.

• Provide recommendations and insights on data management and governance procedures, including the acquisition, maintenance, validation, and use of data.
• Collaborate with team members, including offshore colleagues, to resolve high-priority issues and support consistent delivery across time zones.
• Help manage GAIA application pools.
• Design and maintain reliable software solutions for monitoring and alerting.
• Work with the team to address database performance concerns involving code and infrastructure, using tools such as SQL Sentry when appropriate.
• Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server Availability Groups, including replication issues, database failovers, and other operational problems.
• Coordinate certificate tracking and renewals with the team.
• Support PostgreSQL environments and vector database platforms used for AI/ML retrieval workloads, including embedding storage, indexing, and query performance.
• Use AI tools and agents in daily work to improve productivity, automate routine tasks, and accelerate issue diagnosis and resolution.
• Participate in the teams on-call rotation.
