Bring your dedication for early childhood education to a supportive and dynamic preschool setting. This contract opportunity offers meaningful impact as you help young learners in classrooms designed for students with behavioral support needs. Your guidance will be key for children requiring behavioral and academic assistance, promoting both individual growth and classroom harmony.
We’re seeking two professionals, each to serve as a BSP Paraprofessional in separate preschool programs, directly supporting classrooms with students who have IEPs and behavioral support plans. You’ll collaborate closely with educators and behavior specialists, responding proactively to needs such as tantrum management, de-escalation, and helping children achieve their goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit required (must be in hand; pending permits will not be accepted unless proof from the DEEDS portal is provided)
- Demonstrated experience supporting children with behavioral needs, including redirecting behavior, managing outbursts, and promoting engagement
- Familiarity with IEPs and BSPs in a preschool setting preferred
- Comfortable working in environments where behaviors may include aggression, elopement, or tantrums
- Ability to follow and implement behavioral support plans consistently
- Willingness to obtain/fund CBC fingerprinting as required
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom support and assistance to preschool students as outlined in their individual plans
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and specialists to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Assist students with daily activities, social skills development, and emotional regulation
- Consistently implement behavior plans and document student progress
This assignment runs through early June 2027 and follows a Monday–Friday schedule, totaling 35 hours weekly with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day. Both positions are onsite and require a proactive, compassionate approach.
