Base Pay $17.74 - $23.91 / Hour Job Category Part-time, Off-campus, Housing & Community Development Employee Type Student Assistant Required Degree NONE Manage Others No The Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is seeking to hire two (2) student assistants under the Operational Support Branch (OSB). The Recruitment & Admin Support Unit (RASU) provides operational support to the Deputy Director and Assistant Deputy Directors of the Division of State Financial Assistance (DSFA). The RASU Human Resource Liaison functions as a subject matter expert when working with HCD and the California Department of Human Resources, to provide support and consultation in all aspects specific to DSFA employee classification, allocation, and hiring. The Liaison also assists DSFA management with the process of hiring, reclassifying, and justifying changes. The goal is to build a high-performing, talented, and diverse workforce. Employment Conditions This is a part‑time, temporary, non‑benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. Either party may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause. Prerequisites Students must be enrolled in at least six semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates; four semester units or six quarter units for graduates. The declared major must match the major(s) listed in the posting. Majors / Fields of Study Business Administration Public Policy & Administration Government Communications Work Schedule Flexible workdays and hours, Monday – Friday between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The final schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Student Assistants and Graduate Assistants generally work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks (winter, spring, summer). Compensation $17.74 – $23.91 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate classifications. Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term. Experience providing administrative or office support services. Ability to answer phones, respond to public inquiries, and handle written correspondence professionally. Knowledge of office procedures, records management, and filing systems. Experience maintaining office supplies, equipment, and purchase orders. Ability to manage confidential records and coordinate with multiple departments. Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic filing systems. Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Preferred Qualifications Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference must furnish documentation establishing eligibility. Duties and Responsibilities Answer and direct telephone inquiries from the public, provide program overview information, and respond to written requests for the Department or Division. Provide direct office support for DSFA Executive Management; maintain all office equipment and filing systems, order supplies, and complete purchase orders as necessary for training requests. Assist with creating, revising, and maintaining all Forms for the Division. Collaborate with Legal Affairs Division on all incoming Public Records Act requests for DSFA. Liaise between DSFA program and BSO for Record Retention Schedule, Record Transfer Lists, and schedule pickups with State Records Center (SRC). Assist preparing boxes for transfer. Ship boxes to SRC for long‑term storage. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
