About Financial & Estate Literacy
Financial & Estate Literacy (It’s Your Money & Estate) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed financial and estate planning decisions.
Through educational programs, community workshops, and strategic partnerships, the organization works to increase financial confidence, promote responsible planning, philanthropic giving and help prevent financial exploitation through awareness and education.
Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive leader of Financial & Estate Literacy and is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through strategic leadership, effective governance partnership, program excellence, community engagement, and operational stewardship.
Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will translate the organization’s mission and strategic priorities into measurable outcomes while ensuring strong governance practices, financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, and continued program growth.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, mission-focused leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution and build meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, educators, professional advisors, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategic Direction
• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
• Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans, priorities, and initiatives.
• Translate organizational objectives into actionable programs, measurable outcomes, and sustainable growth strategies.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Board Governance & Partnership
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and organizational operations.
• Support the Board in fulfilling its governance, fiduciary, and strategic responsibilities by providing timely, accurate, and meaningful information.
• Collaborate with the Board Chair and committees on strategic planning, organizational priorities, risk management, and performance evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit governance best practices, organizational bylaws, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Support Board recruitment, development, engagement, and ongoing education.
• Maintain a strong partnership between governance leadership and operational management.
Program Leadership & Community Impact
• Provide strategic oversight of the organization’s educational initiatives, including It’s Your Money and It’s Your Estate programs.
• Ensure programs are impactful, mission-aligned, accessible, and responsive to community needs.
• Expand educational outreach through workshops, partnerships, and innovative programming.
• Support facilitators, volunteers, and community partners in delivering high-quality educational experiences.
Operations & Organizational Management
• Oversee daily operations and ensure effective systems, processes, and infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and organizational practices that support accountability and efficiency.
• Coordinate staff, contractors, volunteers, vendors, and strategic partners.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit standards and operational requirements.
Financial Stewardship & Sustainability
• Provide leadership for budgeting, financial planning, and responsible resource allocation.
• Work with the Board Treasurer and financial advisors to monitor financial performance and sustainability.
• Ensure sound financial practices, transparency, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen revenue streams and long-term financial stability.
Fundraising & Resource Development
• Develop and execute fundraising strategies in partnership with the Board and fundraising committees.
• Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, corporations, and community supporters.
• Lead donor engagement, sponsorship development, grant opportunities, and stewardship efforts.
• Communicate organizational impact and funding priorities effectively.
Community Engagement & External Relations
• Serve as the organization’s primary ambassador and spokesperson.
• Build and maintain partnerships with professional advisors, nonprofits, educational institutions, corporations, and community organizations.
• Represent Financial & Estate Literacy at events, educational forums, and community meetings.
• Increase awareness of financial literacy, estate planning education, and prevention of financial exploitation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated executive leadership experience in a nonprofit, educational, community-based, or mission-driven organization.
• Experience working with a Board of Directors and understanding of nonprofit governance principles.
• Proven ability to develop strategy, manage operations, and lead organizational initiatives.
• Strong financial management and resource development experience.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to inspire and engage donors, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
•CFRE designation
• Experience leading educational programs, workshops, or community outreach initiatives.
• Experience with fundraising, grants, sponsorships, or nonprofit development.
• Knowledge of financial literacy, estate planning, elder empowerment, aging populations, or charitable giving education.
• Experience working with professional advisors, financial professionals, attorneys, or community organizations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
Work Environment & Benefits
Position Type: Full-Time
Work Location: Hybrid position based in Orange County, California, with flexibility for remote work and in-person meetings, community events, and organizational activities.
Compensation: $85,000 – $125,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
