Job OverviewPay Range: $45.00hr - $55.00hrRequirement/Must Have:NYS laboratory license required.HT (ASCP) or ASCP eligible OR five years of full time experience in the last 10 years.A.A., A.S. degree and 1+ years of experience within the last 10 years, OR H.S. education or equivalent and 5+ years full-time acceptable experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years.Responsibilities:Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s) under general supervision.Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.Ensure proper tissue processing.Perform embedding and microtomy for select specimen types as defined by Histology Manager/Supervisor under general supervision.Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and E&O staining.Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.Perform special stains under approval of or at the discretion of Histology Manager/Supervisor under general supervision.Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of non-complex equipment.Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities.Ensure all corporate safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met.Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Skills:Histology.Microtomy.Embedding.Tissue Processing.Staining.Accessioning.Quality Control.CLIA/CAP Compliance.Qualification And Education:Associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent high school education with significant experience.HT (ASCP) certification or eligibility.
