Here’s a summary of responsibilities: The Director, Philanthropic Strategiesis a leader within Strategic Advancement responsible for developing and guiding solicitation strategies for the Foundation’s most complex and significant philanthropic opportunities, with a focus on $5M+ transformational gifts. This role translates donor interests and organizational priorities into clear, actionable strategies that position prospects for decisive philanthropic action. The Director serves as a strategic partner to executive and senior frontline fundraisers, seniorFoundationleadership, and campaign leadership with transformational gift strategy and advanced prospect development—shaping how, when, and what we ask donors to support. The role is donor‑centric and action‑oriented, focused on strategic sequencing, positioning, and readiness for solicitation at the principal and transformational gift level. This position is designed to concentrate on philanthropic strategies and gift advancement at the highest levels of giving. The Director, Philanthropic Strategies partners closely across theDevelopmentdivision to translate insights into clear, effective solicitation strategies. Here’s how you’ll have an impact: Philanthropic Strategy & Solicitation Advancement (60%) In partnership with the Philanthropy team, develop and execute solicitation strategies for principal and transformational gift prospects, with a focus on clarity of ask, strategic positioning, timing, and sequencing. Partner with executive and senior frontline fundraisers to shape donor‑specific strategies that align donor interests with campaign and organizational priorities. Define the strategic arc of donor cultivation for complex philanthropic opportunities, including escalation pathways and readiness for solicitation. Support strategy development for complex $5M+ donor engagements, providing data‑driven insights, prospect intelligence, and strategic recommendations. Translate campaign priorities into clear donor strategies that connect funding opportunities to impact, urgency, and donor motivation. Serve as a thought partner to campaign and advancement leadership on how to advance top prospects through compelling strategy, rather than tactical portfolio or pipeline management. Act as the strategic project manager for complex, high‑value philanthropic asks, connecting strategy and proposal development, sequencing, timelines, and cross‑functional alignment to ensure clarity, discipline, and readiness for solicitation. Hire, mentor, and manage philanthropic strategy staff and related campaign support roles. Set clear expectations, foster collaboration, and provide regular feedback to build a high‑performing, service‑oriented team. Campaign Strategy Enablement & Governance (25%) Partner with campaign leadership to ensure solicitation strategies align with campaign goals, funding architecture, and sequencing. Contribute strategic insight to strategic campaign planning, proposal prioritization, and solicitation timing. Prepare and present donor strategy perspectives for senior leadership, volunteer leadership, and the Board, focusing on implications and recommended actions. Contribute to campaign‑related volunteer engagement by shaping donor strategy narratives and solicitation context. Ensure alignment between philanthropic strategy, proposal development, and campaign messaging across Strategic Advancement. Collaborate closely with Data & Analytics, Portfolio Operations, and Prospect Development teams to interpret donor insights and apply them to solicitation strategy. Utilize research, analytics, and pipeline intelligence to inform strategy development. Partner with Proposal Development and Communications teams to ensure donor strategies are reflected accurately in proposals and donor materials. Serve as a connector across Strategic Advancement functions to ensure donor strategies are coherent, disciplined, and action‑oriented. Perform other duties as assigned. Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Advanced degree preferred 10+ years of progressive experience in program or fundraising strategy, campaign operations, prospect development, or related advancement roles Demonstrated success leading or contributing to major and/or comprehensive campaigns in a fundraising environment Proven expertise in prospect management, portfolio strategy, and data‑driven pipeline development Experience managing and developing high‑performing teams Proven track record of partnering effectively with senior leaders, frontline fundraisers, and volunteer stakeholders Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities Ability to communicate organizational vision and values effectively to donors and stakeholders Demonstrated capability in team leadership, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative environment and earning trust among peers Demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast‑paced, high‑performing fundraising environment through strategic thinking and disciplined execution Exceptional writing and presentation skills Strong working knowledge of the national philanthropic landscape, key players, and top prospects High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in donor‑related matters Passion for sport and the ideals of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements Here are the tools, equipment, & conditions: Standard office equipment Some domestic and international travel Non‑traditional hours on occasion, including nights and weekends Regular attendance at work is an essential job function Here’s where you’ll work: Remote – Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, or San Francisco preferred Here’s some more information you need to know: Hiring pay range $120,000 - $140,000 per year. This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week. Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 20% target.
