Accounts Payable Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: North of Downtown Indianapolis, IN
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM (100% Onsite)
A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis . This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment and has a strong background in invoice processing, vendor management, and maintaining accurate financial records .
Responsibilities
- Process high-volume accounts payable invoices accurately and timely
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation
- Review and verify expense coding and account allocations
- Prepare and process weekly payment runs , including checks and electronic payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive vendor relationships
- Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts payable
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Support the accounting team with special projects as needed

Qualifications
- 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience
- Experience processing a high volume of invoices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus , but not required
