Department of Sociology Temporary Faculty Pool The Department of Sociology offers a BA in Sociology, a BA in Criminology and Justice Studies (CJS), a BA in Cannabis Studies, and an MA in Public Sociology. The CJS and Sociology BA degrees include a rigorous core of theory and methods, service learning, writing intensive courses, professional development seminar, and two capstone options. About two-thirds of the students in our programs identify as students of color, first‑generation college students, and/or Pell Grant recipients. As a department we work to address social justice at the local, regional and global level. Our goal is to foster a desire and respect for social change among our students and our local community. Both our undergraduate and graduate programs encourage imagination, creativity and the development of applied methodological skills. See full listing of course offerings here: Qualifications M.A./M.S. or equivalent in the appropriate field, as well as documented evidence of course‑related content expertise is required. Preference will be given to candidates with documented successful teaching experience at the college level within the last three years. For candidates applying to teach graduate-level courses, at least 30 units of coursework toward PhD must be completed in addition to a M.A./M.S. or equivalent in the appropriate field. Evidence of effectiveness and inclusive pedagogy in teaching and mentoring low‑income, first‑generation, and students of color. Evidence of recent teaching experience (within the last 2‑3 years) working with freshmen as they transition from high school to college and in helping them develop foundational academic skills (time management, reading strategies, writing, test preparation, and classroom expectations). In all cases, preference will be given to candidates with an earned doctoral degree in a relevant field. Salary Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: Lecturer A $5,507–$6,677 Lecturer B $6,221–$13,224 Lecturer C $6,825–$14,523 Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
