As a Mental Health Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in conducting comprehensive mental health evaluations, formulating tailored treatment plans, and facilitating therapeutic interventions—both in individual and group settings.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough preliminary interviews to assess clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health, ensuring accurate documentation from the initial consultation through to treatment completion.

• Evaluate and diagnose mental health conditions using evidence-based approaches, fostering a deep understanding of each client’s unique challenges.

• Develop customized intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups based on clinical assessments and client needs.
\n
• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions designed to encourage personal growth and effective coping strategies.
\n
• Monitor client progress throughout the treatment journey, making adjustments to intervention plans as necessary based on feedback and observed outcomes.

• Collaborate closely with other mental health specialists, physicians, nurses, and social workers to ensure comprehensive and holistic client care.

• Maintain seamless communication with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients requiring hospital admission and post-discharge follow-up.

• Implement strategies to identify and mitigate behaviors that may impede progress in recovery.

• Support family members and primary caregivers in managing the mental health challenges faced by their loved ones, providing education and resources as necessary.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid state licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

• A successful score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Previous experience in a mental health counseling role, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage with clients across varied backgrounds.

• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, particularly with AVATAR or similar platforms.
\n
• Familiarity with effective practices related to various mental health conditions, including addiction and co-occurring disorders.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude for maintaining rapport and trust with clients.
\n
• Empathy, patience, and outstanding interpersonal skills essential for building therapeutic relationships.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience working in a community health setting, with exposure to a multidisciplinary approach to mental health care.

• Understanding of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and ethical guidelines.

• Knowledge of pharmacological management of mental health issues, including potential side effects and interactions of prescribed medications.

Compensation and Benefits\n

This role offers a competitive annual salary range of $80,000 to $100,000, with opportunities for a sign-on bonus.
