Direct Counsel is representing a reputable law firm seeking a Labor & Employment Associate (2–4 Years) to join its Labor & Employment Practice in New Jersey.

About the Role

This opportunity is ideal for an employment attorney with 2–4 years of defense-side labor and employment experience who is looking to work on sophisticated litigation and counseling matters for employers across a wide range of industries. The role includes a mix of litigation, compliance counseling, and day-to-day employment advisory work.

Responsibilities

• Defend employers in litigation involving:
  • Discrimination
  • Harassment
  • Retaliation
  • Whistleblower claims
  • Other employment-related disputes
• Advise employers on workplace compliance issues, including:
  • Terminations
  • Leaves of absence
  • Performance management
  • Wage and hour matters
• Draft and review:
  • Personnel policies
  • Employment agreements
  • Workplace-related documents
• Conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, and support all phases of litigation
• Work directly with clients on employment-related strategy and risk management

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of employment-specific, defense-side experience with a regional or national law firm
• Strong background in employment litigation and counseling
• Excellent academic credentials required
• Strong writing, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented with the initiative and ability to take ownership of matters
• Must be admitted and in good standing with the New Jersey Bar
• Admission to the New York Bar is preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $200,000 – $235,000 annually
