Direct Counsel is representing a reputable law firm seeking a Labor & Employment Associate (2–4 Years) to join its Labor & Employment Practice in New Jersey.
About the RoleThis opportunity is ideal for an employment attorney with 2–4 years of defense-side labor and employment experience who is looking to work on sophisticated litigation and counseling matters for employers across a wide range of industries. The role includes a mix of litigation, compliance counseling, and day-to-day employment advisory work.
Responsibilities- Defend employers in litigation involving:
- Discrimination
- Harassment
- Retaliation
- Whistleblower claims
- Other employment-related disputes
- Advise employers on workplace compliance issues, including:
- Terminations
- Leaves of absence
- Performance management
- Wage and hour matters
- Draft and review:
- Personnel policies
- Employment agreements
- Workplace-related documents
- Conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, and support all phases of litigation
- Work directly with clients on employment-related strategy and risk management
- 2–4 years of employment-specific, defense-side experience with a regional or national law firm
- Strong background in employment litigation and counseling
- Excellent academic credentials required
- Strong writing, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with the initiative and ability to take ownership of matters
- Must be admitted and in good standing with the New Jersey Bar
- Admission to the New York Bar is preferred
- Salary Range: $200,000 – $235,000 annually
