Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year! We’re seeking passionate educators for full-time contract roles providing exceptional support for elementary students, grades K-4, in a resource model. Enjoy a structured weekday schedule—Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week—with dedicated lunch and break times.

In this role, you’ll balance both pull-out and push-in support, delivering direct academic instruction while fostering social/emotional growth. You’ll collaborate with general education teachers and contribute to an inclusive, supportive classroom environment. The caseload consists of 8-12 students, providing opportunities for meaningful engagement and individualized support.

Preferred candidates bring Orton Gillingham training or certification (SLANT, Wilson, Sonday, etc.), ensuring evidence-based literacy instruction. A valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) or equivalent out-of-state license is required. If you currently have a comparable license from another state, refer to the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) for guidance on obtaining your PEL.

Qualifications

• Valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) or eligible for Illinois licensure via ELIS
• Special Education endorsement and experience supporting K-4 students
• Orton Gillingham, SLANT, Wilson, Sonday, or similar reading intervention certification preferred
• Strong collaborative and communication skills
• Ability to support academic and social/emotional needs in a resource model

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accommodations and individualized instruction through both pull-out and push-in models
• Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive practices
• Develop and monitor IEPs and student progress
• Create a positive, student-centered learning environment
• Foster strong relationships with students, families, and school teams
