Job Summary:

A large educational institution is looking for a Accounts Payable Specialist to process payments for all Department liabilities, other than payroll, in a timely and efficient manner

Responsibilities:

• Maintain complete and systematic records of financial transactions for HCDE.
• Provide excellent customer services to all users regarding all business functions (accounts payable).
• Maintain physical and computerized files of Business Services documents and records.
• Process payment authorizations, purchase orders, EFT/ACH payments and all other payment obligations.
• Research outstanding invoices.
• Complete incoming purchase orders by obtaining and verifying all required signatures
• Prepare and authorize signatures to distribute checks other than payroll.
• Prepare manual checks as necessary.
• Perform data entry tasks to correct, liquidate and pay all payment obligations.
• Be familiar with and assist with duties assigned to other Business Services personnel when necessary.
• Prepare outstanding purchase order lists for all funds.
• Assist external auditors when needed.
• Prepare, verify, and distribute 1099 forms for non-employees.
• Prepare accounts payable processing and distribution schedules.
• Serve as a liaison between departments and vendors regarding accounts payable issues.
• Transmit and maintain positive pay files.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Certified Accounts Payable Associate (CAPA) certification or CAPA certification must be obtained within one year of hire date
• Three years accounts payable experience or comparable experience as an administrative assistant working with a high-level manager or director
