Work Environment\n

The working hours span Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some evening shifts anticipated based on patient requirements. Key Responsibilities\n

• Perform thorough mental health assessments tailored to the unique circumstances of older adults, evaluating mental and emotional health in the context of their life experiences.

• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate medical history, cognitive impairments, and the social environment of the patient.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic methodologies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other psychotherapeutic modalities, to provide individual and family counseling sessions.

• Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure a cohesive treatment approach.

• Provide timely crisis intervention and support, particularly for elderly patients facing acute mental health episodes.

• Educate patients and their families on understanding mental health diagnoses, available treatments, and how to access community resources effectively.

• Maintain precise and confidential patient records in compliance with state and federal regulations, utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation.

• Engage in regular team meetings and contribute to case discussions, ensuring alignment on treatment strategies and continuous learning opportunities.

• Stay updated on the latest research and emerging practices in geriatric psychiatry to enhance patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role is centered around providing care for the geriatric population, which includes older adults who face complex mental health challenges related to aging. Our patients may experience conditions such as cognitive decline, depression, and severe anxiety, all of which require specialized attention and understanding.

Qualifications\n

• A minimum of a Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

• An understanding and familiarity with current mental health best practices specifically designed for the geriatric population.

• Exemplary communication skills and the ability to build rapport with elderly patients and their families, rooted in empathy and compassion.

• Proficiency in EHR systems, with the ability to document case information accurately and efficiently.
