Staff Accountant

Job TitleAssist in maintaining the general ledger and preparation of financial statements for Beacon Bank. Ensures accounting records are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Ensure the accuracy of accounting records by performing account analysis, preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of assigned General Ledger (GL) accounts.Key AccountabilitiesResponsible for all the accounting associated with fixed assets and prepaidsPrepares monthly general ledger reconciliations. Investigate and resolve variances, errors or missing data.Preparation and entering of journal entries into the GL system, along with demonstrating proper documentationEnsures strong internal control over GL uploads and journal entries, in addition to performing maintenanceMonthly variance analysis review, including review of account activity and transactions, including providing in-depth analysis as requested to ensure accuracy of general ledgerAssists in preparing regulatory and SEC reporting schedules and providing supporting documentation, as requestedPerforms ad hoc general ledger analysis and reporting as necessaryAssists in preparation of internal and external audit requestsMaintains accounting and reporting policies and proceduresEducationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other related fieldExperience0-2 years related experienceSkills & KnowledgeKnowledge of banking functions and operationsExcellent and effective communication skills, both written and verbal and proofreading skillsStrong aptitude with Microsoft office products, specifically Excel and Word and OutlookAbility to solve problemsAbility to accomplish tasks with limited supervision, prioritize and multi-taskAbility to visualize changes required for specific solutionsAbility to work quickly, accurately, and independently on a daily basis; requiring strong organizational skills, initiative and good judgementWillingness to work overtime during peak periods to ensure reporting deadlines are metBeacon Bank is an Equal Opportunity Employer - all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
