Accounts Receivable Clerk

Accounts Receivable Clerk (Accounting Department) Manatt, Phelps & Phillips is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to manage cash receipts, reconcile cash flow, and support the A/R team. Enter and post cash receipts, adjustments, and credit applications. Update daily cash flow, covering credits, disbursements, and transfers. Create and distribute spreadsheets for daily deposits and collections to partners. Prepare checks for deposit via scanner and remote deposit. Handle foreign checks and deposit them at Comerica Bank. Scan daily deposits and backup files into the shared drive. Create cash sheet for the following day. Reconcile cash flow with system entries and bank deposits. Update pending spreadsheet daily and monitor status. Monitor on‑account disbursement and process refunds. Provide AR team copies of checks, wires, credit card payments, adjustments, and credit applications. Document and communicate cash posting issues with the A/R specialist. Assist with administrative projects, record maintenance, and annual audit selections. Assist the General Counsel with bad debt matters and notify Risk Management of bad debt payments. Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding cash receipts, payment applications, invoices, and collection status. Work independently and on special projects as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. 2‑3 years of accounts receivable experience with cash applications. College degree (Aderant experience highly preferred). Handle confidential information with sensitivity and discretion. Prioritize and complete multiple assignments. Calculate discounts, interest, and proportions accurately. Maintain effective working relationships with team members, accounting, billing attorneys, and clients. Exercise good judgment, including when to raise a problem. Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and follow‑up skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office; intermediate Word and Excel skills. Reliable and able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment. Base annual pay range: $55,000 – $67,000. Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in‑office, 2 days remote (up to 5 days in‑office per week as business needs dictate). Comprehensive medical, financial, and other benefits available upon hiring.
