Executive Chef

Executive Chef Location: Tampa, FL Job Id: 1228 # of Openings: 1 Position Summary The Executive Chef must have relevant restaurant industry and previous kitchen and management experience, be self‑motivated, creative, possess strong leadership skills, and be able to spot problems and resolve them quickly while maintaining high work and safety standards. The Executive Chef collaborates with the Director of Dining Experiences and enforces all food safety policies and procedures. Responsibilities include overseeing day‑to‑day culinary operations, supervising production of daily specials, delegating tasks, spot‑checking product for quality, and assisting on the line during peak service times. The Executive Chef motivates, trains, develops, and directs the back‑of‑house employees to achieve the operation’s objectives. The role also assists with menu development, creating daily and weekly specials, updating the always‑available menu, developing special event menus, and working with residents to plan catering menus and holiday parties. The Executive Chef ensures high‑quality food items are creatively prepared and presented, maintains efficient and cost‑effective operations, and monitors quality, cost, eye appeal, and flavor standards. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma/GED required (two‑year culinary degree preferred) 7+ years’ experience in a management and executive kitchen position Demonstrated knowledge of current restaurant industry trends Culinary creativity and flexibility Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal food sanitation regulations Ability to supervise kitchen staff and provide direction Strong professional communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; empathy, energy, and affinity for working with a senior population Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays Authorization to work in the U.S. All applicants must complete and successfully pass a Level I and Level II background check and drug screening Benefits University of Florida partnership with community discounts and access to opportunities through the Gator One UF ID Card OH, I CAN!
