Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS ACLS Must-Have: Stepdown or progressive care experience Telemetry experience Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications Description: This position involves working in a progressive care unit with a patient capacity of 40 beds. The typical patient population includes those with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and those recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD implantation, and ablation procedures. Staffing includes one charge nurse and bedside nurses with a typical ratio of 1:4, stretching to 1:5. The unit utilizes various equipment such as Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners. Electronic medical records are maintained using a Cerner system. Candidates must possess experience with medications like nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drips, heparin, and diuretics. Candidates with experience in using prostacyclins will be given preference. Relief charge experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and positive attitude, be a great team player, and show compassion in patient care. Weekend shifts will be required every other week. All staff will follow guidelines and policies outlined during orientation.
