Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Direct and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans aimed at preventing disabilities, alleviating pain, enhancing muscle functions, and maximizing each client's performance within their capabilities.
• Oversee and mentor physical therapy assistants, ensuring the proper execution of care plans and maintaining a high standard of service.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate the client's functional levels, utilizing diagnostic tools to develop appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Assess clients' home environments, making recommendations for modifications to enhance their independence and quality of life.
• Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, traction, and physical agents, along with guiding clients through effective functional activities.
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, participating in case conferences and treatment planning to recommend changes based on observed client progress.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records which include initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries as per organizational policies and regulations.
• Educate clients and their families on utilizing physical therapy devices, understanding their therapy activities, and ensuring safe practices at home.
• Complete timely clinical documentation and participate in ongoing professional development to continually improve your practice.

You will provide services to a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgery, those managing chronic conditions, and patients seeking rehabilitation post-injury. Your approach will be informed by the specific needs and goals of each client, ensuring a tailored treatment experience that respects their individual circumstances and aspirations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) and a valid license to practice in the state of Virginia.
• A minimum of two years of experience as a physical therapist in an acute or home care setting, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of rehabilitative practices.
• Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills that foster positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
