Biophysics and Statistical Physics Expert for AI Model Training [Remote]

Model stochastic bacterial population dynamics to derive asymptotic growth rates, analyze effects of growth-rate switching and cell-size regulation noise, and produce clear, reproducible methodological documentation to train and evaluate AI systems.

• Analyze and model stochastic two-state Markov processes with gamma-distributed waiting times in the context of bacterial population dynamics.
• Apply the Euler-Lotka equation to assess and benchmark asymptotic population growth rates across different noise regimes.
• Develop or review analytical approaches using perturbative expansions in small division-noise variance, and validate resulting predictions.
• Integrate renewal theory and first-passage-time analysis to derive insights on population growth and cell-size regulation noise.
• Document detailed methodological steps, assumptions, and findings clearly for reproducibility and for use as high-quality training data for AI systems.
• Contribute as one or more assignment types, potentially serving as Solver, Auditor, or Adjudicator depending on your specialization and experience.

• Strong background in statistical physics, biophysics, or quantitative biological modeling of stochastic processes.
• Proven experience with two-state Markov models and gamma-distributed waiting times applied to biological or physical systems.
• Demonstrated command of the Euler-Lotka equation in population or growth dynamics contexts.
• Experience with perturbative expansion techniques, specifically in small division-noise variance, and with renewal theory.
• Ability to perform first-passage-time analysis and interpret implications for growth-rate fluctuations and size control.
• Clear technical writing skills for documenting methods and assumptions. No prior experience in AI is required; domain expertise is the primary requirement.
