Managing Director - Residential Private Lending

Macdonald & Company is working with a privately owned real estate investment and lending group in South Florida to appoint a Managing Director for its established residential private lending business.

The company specializes in short-term, first-lien residential investment loans, including Fix & Flip, Residential Bridge, Construction and DSCR financing. Having built an established lending operation with existing borrower relationships, underwriting processes and financing arrangements, the business is now looking to expand its lending activity and capital base.

\n

The focus is on growing the company's existing lending business, building on its relationships and identifying opportunities to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns. Rather than competing directly with large national lenders on volume and pricing, the company sees significant opportunity to expand within its existing market.

\n

This is a hands-on, commercially focused leadership position. The successful candidate will be directly involved in originating loans, developing borrower and broker relationships, sourcing capital and helping shape the future growth of the business. The role would suit someone who has built their career in residential private lending, understands the economics of the business and enjoys being personally involved in generating opportunities rather than simply managing an established team.

Key Responsibilities

• Personally originate residential investment loans across Fix & Flip, Residential Bridge, Construction and DSCR products.
\n
• Develop and expand relationships with borrowers, mortgage brokers, correspondent lenders, real estate investors and referral partners to generate new lending opportunities.
\n
• Identify profitable lending opportunities, structure transactions and work closely with underwriting and closing teams to execute loans.
\n
• Grow loan production while maintaining appropriate pricing, credit standards and attractive risk-adjusted returns.
\n
• Develop relationships with Family Offices, High Net Worth Individuals, RIAs and other private capital providers to support the growth of the lending platform.
\n
• Raise equity and other private investment capital to increase lending capacity and support continued expansion.
\n
• Establish and expand relationships with warehouse lenders, financial institutions and other financing partners to strengthen the company's capital structure.
\n
• Identify opportunities to expand existing lending products, enter complementary markets and develop additional borrower relationships.
\n
• Work directly with ownership on business development, growth strategy and the longer-term direction of the lending business.
\n
• Help develop the processes, relationships and infrastructure needed to support growth while maintaining the flexibility and commercial approach of a smaller lending platform.

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Significant experience in residential private lending, with direct exposure to Fix & Flip, Residential Bridge, Construction and/or DSCR loans.
\n
• Demonstrated track record of personally originating business-purpose residential loans, supported by an established network of borrowers, mortgage brokers and referral partners.
\n
• Experience growing a private lending business, ideally within a smaller, entrepreneurial or regional lending platform.
\n
• Strong commercial understanding of loan structuring, pricing, credit risk, profitability and the economics of residential investment lending.
\n
• Experience raising capital from private investors, Family Offices, HNW individuals or other capital providers, with the ability to develop additional investor relationships.
\n
• Familiarity with warehouse financing, institutional lending relationships or other sources of leverage would be advantageous.
\n
• Comfortable operating in a lean business, taking ownership of opportunities and remaining directly involved from origination through execution.
\n
• Entrepreneurial, resourceful and motivated by the opportunity to help build a business over the long term.
\n
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work closely with ownership and represent the business externally.
