Key Responsibilities

• Establish and sustain effective working relationships with patients, families, and medical staff to enhance the continuum of care.
• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and utilize appropriate diagnostic tests to evaluate patients experiencing pain.
• Provide personalized consultation services to medical colleagues regarding complex cases requiring expert pain management.
• Educate patients on a range of pain management strategies, including lifestyle modifications, stress reduction techniques, and rehabilitation options.
• Engage in cutting-edge research to identify new methodologies and treatments for pain management.
• Prescribe medications in accordance with state regulations, tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring safety and efficacy.
• Deliver high-quality postoperative care to surgical patients, closely monitoring recovery and managing pain levels effectively.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to implement comprehensive treatment plans that address patient needs.
• Discuss non-narcotic pain relief alternatives with physicians for patients at risk of dependency or experiencing chronic pain.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies.
• Current and valid Physician Assistant license in the state of Texas.
• National certification as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority.
• Proficient understanding of medical terminology and pharmacology.
• Exceptional communication skills, particularly in high-pressure scenarios, alongside a strong ability to work collaboratively within teams.
• Commitment to maintaining professionalism and integrity while interacting with both patients and staff.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in pain management, anesthesia, or surgical recovery preferred.
• Familiarity with evidenced-based practices in pain assessment and management.

Compensation and Benefits
