Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify pain management needs, utilizing diagnostic modalities and clinical examinations.
• Diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients, including prescribing medications, performing procedural interventions, and coordinating care schedules.
• Collaborate closely with attending physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other specialists to implement customized treatment plans and respond to evolving patient needs.
• Perform relevant medical procedures such as joint injections, nerve blocks, and other pain management techniques, ensuring adherence to established protocols to prioritize patient safety.
• Participate in on-call duties on Saturdays, providing timely medical advice and consultations for urgent patient inquiries.
• Document patient interactions in a comprehensive manner within our electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring accuracy in treatment documentation and follow-up care.
• Educate patients and their families on pain management strategies, rehabilitation options, and preventive measures to encourage patient empowerment and adherence to care plans.
• Stay abreast of advancements in pain management practices, engaging in continuous education and training opportunities that enhance your practice.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by participating in case reviews and audits, aiming for enhanced patient care standards.
• Maintain open communication with all members of the healthcare team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on patient welfare.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients served in this role often experience chronic pain due to a variety of underlying conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, neuropathic pain, and post-surgical pain. You will be working with diverse patient demographics, from adolescents to older adults, ensuring tailored pain relief strategies that are culturally competent and considerate of individual health backgrounds.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with completed PA program accreditation.
• Active and unencumbered Physician Assistant license to practice in Texas.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in pain management, rehabilitation, or related specialties, with a proven ability to perform pain management procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an aptitude for patient education and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
