Senior Patient Services Specialist - Colorectal Surgery Clinic

Description The Senior Patient Services Specialist provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services as well as patient orientation for Swedish Cancer Institute at multiple campuses. The role independently plans and accomplishes a wide spectrum of clerical duties, including scheduling new patients, follow‑up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, diagnostic tests, insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations, maintaining patient medical records, reconciling billing issues, answering multiple phone lines, and triaging calls. Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills are vital, alongside compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability required when working with oncology patients. The specialist acts as a liaison with patients, families, other departments, and third‑party payers, and serves as an informational resource regarding oncology support services. Responsibilities are performed timely, accurately, and with an exceptional customer‑service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize the oncology patient experience. Required Qualifications Coursework/Training: Successful completion of oncology administrative training within six months. Medical Terminology Certification or completion of a Medical Terminology course within 6 months (180 days) of hire. 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred (e.g., physician’s office, scheduler, etc.). Experience in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree with an emphasis in health care, or an equivalent degree from a two‑year college or technical school with a healthcare emphasis. Compensation & Benefits The wage range for this position is $29.56 – $44.46 per hour. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
