Support Coordinator - Spine Center Cl - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt)(Union)

Job Overview As part of the Ambulatory Clinic, this role ensures smooth outpatient flow to maximize patient satisfaction and efficient clinic operations. The individual will coordinate multiple appointments across various multi‑specialty clinical services, handling daily clinic preparation tasks such as customer service, message distribution, procedure scheduling, encounter registration, and referral management. Essential Duties Answers telephones and greets patients. Adheres to protect patient confidentiality. Processes new referrals in a timely manner; this includes obtaining required outside medical records, entering demographic information into computer system and PBAR, providing medical records to the physician/multidisciplinary team for review, providing insurance information to the financial counselor for patient financial clearance, and scheduling the patient in clinic. Schedules patient’s evaluation in a timely manner while accommodating patient’s needs, including laboratories, diagnostic testing, and consultations as needed. Releases patient information to requesting parties following established confidentiality procedures and answers patient inquiries for laboratory results. Understands the procedures for scheduling patients and gives proper patient instructions. Notifies patient of upcoming appointments in a timely manner. Arranges patient clinic appointments as requested by the physician. Communicates all changes with patient and case information to all involved personnel. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in entering information into computer systems (Cerner, PBAR). Works with various hospital personnel to resolve issues and accommodate patients. Preps charts for clinic, selection committee, and tumor board (if applicable). Assists in clinic with clerical and scheduling needs. Assists in translation as needed (if applicable). Batches and inputs patient information into the computer and retrieves patient demographic data. Scans records into the patient’s electronic chart (KeckCare). Demonstrates flexibility in covering other staff members for sick time, vacation, or leave of absence. Works independently and in a team setting to accomplish duties in a timely manner. Delivers and picks up mail as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Degree in a related field. 1 year experience in acute care or ambulatory care setting (*Entry level accepted). Knowledge of medical terminology. Familiarity with word processing, IDX, Cerner, PBAR, and scheduling software. Required Licenses/Certifications Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (Required within LA City only). Hourly Rate $21.00 – $35.36 per hour.
