Position Summary The Administrative Support Coordinator II plays a central role in supporting the academic and operational success of the department. Working closely with the Department Chair, faculty, and College partners, this position coordinates a wide range of administrative functions, including academic personnel processes, curriculum and scheduling support, budget-related activities, and daily operations. The role serves as a key point of coordination and communication, ensuring processes run smoothly, timelines are met, and policies are applied consistently. Key Responsibilities Coordinate academic personnel, curriculum, and scheduling processes in collaboration with faculty and College partners. Support financial and budget-related activities, including tracking expenditures and maintaining documentation. Manage administrative workflows, timelines, data entry, and communications across multiple stakeholders. Utilize university systems such as PeopleSoft, Banner, and OnBase to maintain accurate records and processes. Position Information This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego after the initial training period. Education And Experience Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience. Key Qualifications Extensive experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with On Base, Banner, and PeopleSoft. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist. Lead and/or supervisory experience is preferred. Experience working with diverse student populations in a university setting is preferred. Experience maintaining budgets is preferred. Experience in handling confidential matters is preferred. Experience coordinating administrative support functions for a group is preferred. Compensation And Benefits San Diego State University offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 – $6,362 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367). Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
