Property Accountant

Whitecap Search is seeking a skilled accounting professional with experience in multifamily residential properties, particularly those with affordable housing components. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and a keen attention to detail. The ability to work independently and effectively manage property accounting operations is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Review general ledger activity and financial statements for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Review charges and allocations associated with affordable housing units
• Maintain accurate and organized property accounting records
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end workpapers
• Review, code, and process vendor invoices
• Assist with audits and special accounting projects as needed
• Identify discrepancies and work to resolve accounting issues in a timely manner
• Support overall property accounting operations and reporting requirements

Requirements

• At least 3 years of accounting experience
• Experience with multifamily residential/property accounting
• Strong understanding of charges and allocations related to affordable housing units
• Experience reviewing general ledger activity and financial statements
• Strong knowledge of accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and GAAP
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• JD Edwards or Hubble experience is a plus
