Location: Coastal North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend required (12 weekend night shifts per contract on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)

Highlights:

• 12-bed surgical short stay unit specializing in adult surgical patients with less than 24-hour stays
• Diverse case mix including colorectal, orthopedic, neurologic, urologic, vascular, plastic, gynecologic, and general surgery patients
• 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio with 24 hours of orientation
• EPIC charting system preferred; contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available
• Floating required as needed to inpatient surgery floors, holding areas, or medical floors
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
• Short stay or 23-hour observation unit experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
• Competency with specialized equipment including CBI, Doppler ultrasound, BD Alaris Infusion Systems, PCA modules, JP drains, and wound vac systems
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information:

• Time off requests limited to 7 days maximum per contract (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
• Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, non-billable)
• Flexibility required; no block scheduling unless weekend block; call-offs may result in contract cancellation
