About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Float to other units as needed.

Highlights:

• Contract length: 13-26 weeks available
• Patient ratio: 1:5-6 on a 41-bed medical/surgical telemetry unit
• Epic electronic medical record system with Pyxis medication management
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy
• 24-hour orientation program with hospital-wide training during week one
• Adult and geriatric patient population with multi-level care capabilities

Requirements:

• Current North Carolina or Compact State RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical telemetry nursing experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required skills: blood product administration, heparin and insulin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, PCA pumps, peripheral line care, wound care/wound vac, IV heparin and insulin drip titration
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Additional Information:

Candidates should be prepared for daily orientation classes during the first week. Flexibility with scheduling is essential, as contract staff may be assigned to storm or hurricane teams and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters. Time off requests are limited to 7 days maximum and must be pre-approved prior to contract signing. No time off is permitted during the first week or on major holidays.
