Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Floating as needed. No call required.

Highlights:

• Inpatient surgical and medical-surgical unit treating a diverse range of surgical and trauma patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for floor-level care
• Epic EMR system with full interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and more
• Contract lengths of 13–26 weeks accepted
• 24 hours of comprehensive floor training following 2 days of hospital orientation
• Experience with surgical procedures including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, wound debridement, amputations, and trauma care

Requirements:

• Active RN license (NC or Compact state license)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (first-time travelers with strong experience will be considered)
• Comfortable managing 1:6 patient ratios
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Preferred: Previous charge experience and Trauma Level II experience

Clinical Skills & Equipment:

• Proficiency with wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, and Penrose drains
• Experience with central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and IV starts
• Skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, PCA pumps, and feeding tube care
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias in a telemetry environment
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, heparin protocols, and use of rapid response/code teams

Patient Population:

Adult patients with a wide range of surgical and trauma-related diagnoses including cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstruction, peripheral vascular disease, and gangrene. Procedures include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, ostomy creation/closure, tumor removal, amputations, and fem-pop bypass.

• Pre-start online modules (approximately 8–10 hours) must be completed before orientation
• Professional dress code: All navy scrubs or navy bottoms with white top
