Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry RN – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 1845-0715; 36 or 48-hour contracts accepted; 13-26 week contract options available; Every other weekend required; Holiday coverage required; Nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6

Highlights:

• Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with general med/surg diagnoses; daily census approximately 43 patients
• Experience with heparin drips, high flow oxygen, and occasional short-term BiPAP with respiratory support
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management; SBAR and BSSR communication protocols
• 24-hour orientation provided; first-time travelers welcome with 2 years of experience
• Float requirements within skillset to like units, including inpatient boarding in the ED as needed
• Call coverage as needed; uniform requirement: navy and white scrubs

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• CPI certification preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift positions
• Experience with 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Additional Information:

• Mandatory attendance at monthly unit team meetings (4th Wednesday at 1730, with night shift alternative on following Friday at 0730)
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events
• Pre-start online modules required (8-10 hours); must be completed using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
• Up to 7 days of time off may be approved (no holidays during time off; must work 2 of 3 major holidays)
• Floating expected before core team members to similar units within skillset
