Role Overview
Apply your frontline fire dispatch expertise to shape how next-generation AI systems interpret and support emergency communications. As a remote contract Fire Dispatcher and Emergency Communications Specialist, you will use real-world dispatch experience to triage simulated or live incidents, enforce standardized procedures, and produce clear, structured feedback that improves AI behavior. No previous AI experience is required; subject matter expertise in emergency communications is the priority.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and analyze simulated or real-time emergency requests, determine urgency, and allocate appropriate resources following established protocols.
- Prioritize incoming information from multiple communication channels, ensuring timely and accurate routing.
- Apply and follow standardized checklists and dispatch scripts to maintain procedural consistency.
- Document scenario responses and communication flows in clear, structured formats for use in AI training.
- Evaluate, critique, and suggest improvements to protocols or automated responses produced by AI models.
- Collaborate with project coordinators to ensure deliverables meet quality and operational standards.
- Provide concise feedback on the clarity and effectiveness of AI-generated communications.
- Significant experience as a fire dispatcher, emergency communications specialist, or equivalent operational role.
- Proven ability to prioritize and triage requests under pressure.
- Comfort and experience handling multiple channels at once, for example radio, phone, and digital messaging.
- Proficiency applying, following, and interpreting standardized emergency protocols and checklists, for example APCO or NENA guidance.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform rapid, accurate prioritization decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with common workflows and challenges in emergency dispatch environments.
- Experience contributing to training, evaluation, or improvement of operational procedures is a plus.
