GIS/Geospatial Expert for AI Model Training [Remote]

Apply deep GIS and geospatial domain knowledge to create high-quality technical documentation, real-world examples, and evaluations that help train and benchmark next-generation AI systems. You will capture advanced workflows that use AI coding agents to generate executable sequences, assess AI-generated solutions for complex geospatial challenges, and work asynchronously with stakeholders to refine guidance and datasets.

• Provide expert analysis, feedback, and practical examples addressing GIS and geospatial data challenges for AI model development.
• Document advanced technical workflows and problem-solving approaches that use AI coding agents, including Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork.
• Deliver detailed descriptions of tasks where AI coding agents have been used to generate sequences, not merely as chat interfaces, including project context, tool selection, and observed results.
• Evaluate and critique AI-generated solutions for sophisticated geospatial scenarios, such as navigating large codebases, debugging, designing end-to-end features, and implementing architectural changes.
• Share real-world cases where ambiguity or scale created unique technical hurdles, and explain how AI agent techniques supported solutions.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project stakeholders to iteratively refine documentation and guidance materials.
• Contribute to building high-fidelity datasets and evaluations used for AI training and benchmarking initiatives.

• Demonstrated expertise in GIS, remote sensing, spatial analytics, or related geospatial technologies.
• Experience with AI coding agents, specifically Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, applied to technical GIS or STEM work.
• Practical Python experience relevant to geospatial workflows.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation, describe complex processes, and communicate reasoning to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
• Track record using AI coding agents for complex scenarios, for example navigating large codebases, debugging, designing end-to-end features, or resolving ambiguous requirements.
• Experience generating and analyzing AI-driven code sequences rather than using agents only for conversational interactions.
• Background in STEM, preferably with ongoing professional engagement in technical geospatial work.
• No prior experience in AI is required, domain expertise is the primary consideration, however candidates who can demonstrate hands-on use of AI coding agents are preferred.

Role type: Contractor. Location: Remote. Work is performed asynchronously with project stakeholders and focuses on documenting workflows, examples, and evaluations for AI training. Independent contractor engagement, no specific weekly hours or project duration provided in this posting.

$80.00 to $100.00 per hour.

• Proficiency in written and verbal communication in English, sufficient to produce technical documentation and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Practical experience in GIS or geospatial work is required; experience applying AI coding agents and Python is strongly preferred.
