FACULTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY AND GLOBAL CULTURES Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position POSITION AVAILABLE: The Department of History and GlobalCultures seeks one or more part-time lecturers for a pool fromwhich instructors will be considered for teaching appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026 and Spring Semester2027. Teaching appointments are in the disciplines of Anthropologyand History, as well as two interdisciplinary majors, GlobalStudies and History-Social Science (Teacher PreparationConcentration). THE DEPARTMENT History and Global Cultures offers a rangeof lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses to approximately250 majors pursuing four undergraduate BA degrees and one graduateMA degree: Anthropology BA Global Studies BA History BA History-Social Science (Teacher Preparation Concentration)BA History MA Department faculty also instruct students completing GeneralEducation requirements and a Public History Certificate. DUTIES OF THE POSITION Teaching assignments may be inseveral programs or levels, including lower- and upper-division orgraduate courses in diverse historical and anthropologicalsubjects; advanced methods and research skills courses; applied orcareer fields in public history, cultural resource management, andteaching; and advising or skills labs for student success. A fulllisting of current courses may be found in the 2026-2027 UniversityCatalog . High-impact pedagogies and applied or career emphases are desired,along with inclusive content and teaching that comprehends EastBay’s student demographics. Courses may be in person on the Haywardcampus, hybrid, or online. The policy and expectation of theCalifornia State University is that all faculty members willperform all of their duties within the state of California. RANK AND SALARY Lecturer. Salary is dependent uponeducational preparation and experience. Position appointment issubject to budgetary authorization. Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677 Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224 Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523 Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211 The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum ofthe appropriate range, commensurate with education andexperience. DATE OF APPOINTMENT Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026;Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027. QUALIFICATIONS M.A. or M.S. in History, Anthropology, orrelated field required; A.B.D. or Ph.D. in Anthropology or History,or related fields, and university teaching experience is preferred.Demonstrated commitment to student success and innovative teaching,including advanced experience and/or professional developmentinvolving the Canvas LMS.
