Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations for elderly patients, understanding their unique challenges, such as cognitive decline, mood disorders, and psychosocial stressors.
• Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans, integrating various therapeutic modalities tailored to each patient’s cognitive capabilities and emotional needs.
• Facilitate both individual and family therapy sessions, employing evidence-based strategies to foster healing and engagement among patients and their loved ones.
• Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate a holistic approach to patient care.
• Provide crisis intervention services to elderly patients experiencing acute mental health episodes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, therapeutic options, and community resources available for additional support.
• Maintain detailed and confidential patient records in compliance with legal regulations and ethical standards, contributing to an organized and efficient electronic health record system.
• Engage in routine team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development initiatives to enhance therapeutic skills and stay current with best practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing a variety of mental health issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and life transitions. Understanding the complexities surrounding elderly mental health, your expertise will help navigate the intricate emotional and psychological landscape that many older adults face, providing them with the care and support they need.

Qualifications

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A valid and current licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, specifically within mental health counseling for older adults is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of geriatric mental health issues, with proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic approaches geared toward this age group.
• Demonstrated experience in providing therapy to older adults, showcasing empathy and understanding in sensitive patient interactions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to build rapport with elderly patients and their families, ensuring they feel heard and valued.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
