Lead Software Engineer - Java Fullstack

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We need a formal background or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years of hands-on Java experience.
• We look for practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We need proficiency in one or more programming languages, with strong experience in Java and Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• We look for strong frontend development experience with React and TypeScript, including design systems and component libraries.
• We need solid DevOps knowledge, including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, release management, and operational readiness.
• We value practical SRE and reliability engineering experience, including observability, incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• We need a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methods, including resiliency and security fundamentals.
• We look for experience designing and running APIs and integration patterns, with REST required and event-driven patterns preferred.
• We need experience with automated testing across the stack, including unit, integration, and UI testing, along with quality engineering practices.
• We look for demonstrated use of approved AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to set expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We need a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and coaching others on safe and compliant adoption.
• Preferred: practical cloud-native experience, including containers, orchestration, and managed services.
• Preferred: familiarity with distributed systems patterns such as resilience, idempotency, rate limiting, and caching.
• Preferred: familiarity with implementing security controls in the SDLC, including threat modeling, secrets management, and secure-by-design practices.
• Preferred: experience with on-call ownership of service health and reducing toil through automation.
• Preferred: exposure to data and analytics tooling for operational insight, such as reliability trends, latency, and error analysis.
• Preferred: exposure to modernizing legacy systems without disrupting business delivery.

• We design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, taking approaches beyond the conventional to solve technical problems.
• We build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• We apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• We identify and automate recurring remediation work to improve the stability of our applications and systems.
• We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within our systems and information architecture.
• We set technical direction and own end-to-end delivery across full stack engineering and DevOps/SRE practices as a senior technical lead on an agile team.
• We proactively reduce operational risk through automation and resilient design.
