Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Christian Mental Health Counselor, you will be responsible for:

• Providing trauma-informed counseling services to individuals, couples, and families, ensuring that each session is tailored to the specific needs and goals of your clients.

• Incorporating Christian counseling principles into your therapeutic approach for clients seeking faith-based support.
\n
• Developing and executing comprehensive treatment plans that address the unique circumstances of each client.
\n
• Offering counseling services to clients referred from local churches, thus fostering a broader network of support within the community.

• Actively engaging in community outreach, networking, and relationship-building to establish new sources for referrals and expand your caseload.

• Collaborating with interdisciplinary professionals, including social workers and clinical counselors, to ensure a holistic approach to client care.

• Maintaining meticulous client records and documenting progress notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system promptly.

• Communicating proactively with the center director regarding your schedule and client availability to ensure an efficient workflow.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your work will primarily involve supporting individuals, couples, and families who are seeking guidance through various life challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and more. Our clients come from diverse backgrounds, and your ability to connect compassionately with them will be integral to their healing journey. Your approach will honor their personal beliefs while fostering a safe environment for healing.

Qualifications\n

To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required.
\n
• Strong knowledge of the Bible and biblical counseling techniques to effectively guide faith-based therapy.
\n
• An independently licensed mental health professional in Washington, D.C. is required; candidates must be within 200 hours of completing their residency.
\n
• Dual licensure in Virginia or Maryland is highly desired.
\n
• Experience and training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or a willingness to complete foundational training within the first three months of hire.
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of various therapeutic modalities and interventions to suit diverse client needs.
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong ability to work effectively across diverse populations.
\n
• A compassionate and empathetic approach, maintaining confidentiality and adherence to ethical guidelines in all client interactions.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of one year of trauma counseling experience is required, a background in community outreach and networking is strongly preferred, as it enhances your ability to connect with clients and create referral opportunities. Familiarity with church communities and faith-based organizations can further enrich your contributions to our center.
