Key Responsibilities\n

In the role of Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing trauma-informed counseling services to clients, addressing their unique emotional and psychological needs.
\n
• Incorporating Christian counseling principles into sessions for clients seeking faith-based guidance, thus enriching the therapeutic experience.

• Developing individualized treatment plans that reflect each client’s goals and needs, regularly assessing and adjusting these plans as necessary.

• Delivering counseling services to clients referred from local churches, building a strong presence in the community.
\n
• Actively engaging in community outreach to expand your caseload and establish new referral sources.
\n
• Collaborating with social workers, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records, entering progress notes into our electronic health record (EHR) system promptly.

• Communicating effectively with the center director to discuss scheduling, client needs, and service improvements.

The clients you will serve include individuals, couples, and families who are navigating various life challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required.
\n
• License as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Washington, with the ability to practice independently.

• Knowledge of Biblical principles and counseling techniques is essential.
\n
• Experience with trauma-informed care and various therapeutic modalities is necessary to meet diverse client needs.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients from various backgrounds.

• A strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all aspects of practice.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of one year of experience providing trauma counseling is required, preference will be given to candidates with:

• Dual licensure in Virginia or Maryland, enhancing our reach within these communities.

• EMDR training or willingness to complete EMDR basic training within the first three months of hiring.
