Department of Ethnic Studies The Department of Ethnic Studies offers cultural, historical, social science, and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of people of color in the United States. It values an intersectional lens that accounts for race, gender, sexuality, and class, and offers courses in both on‑ground and online formats covering Black Studies, Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies, American Indian Studies, Chicanx/Latinx Studies, Comparative Ethnic Studies, and Genders and Sexualities in Communities of Color. Position Available Temporary, part‑time lecturer positions for the 2026–2027 academic year. Assignments may include courses at the East Bay, Hayward campus, Concord Center, or online. Duties of the Position Teach one or more lower or upper‑division courses. Faculty members are expected to perform all duties within the state of California. Rank and Salary Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available, and the anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Date of Appointment Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027. Qualifications M.A., ABD, or Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies or a closely related field.
