Step into a rewarding role serving elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school community near Westbrook, ME. This contract opportunity spans from ASAP through June 11, 2027, and is perfect for educators who thrive in a resource setting, particularly those experienced with life skills or behavioral programs. The position is dedicated to supporting 4th and 5th-grade students, providing vital interventions and tailored instruction.
A 32.5-hour workweek offers a predictable schedule, with hours from 7:25 AM to 2:10 PM, and an early release at 1:10 PM every Wednesday. You’ll design and implement creative, individualized support plans that help every student reach their potential—both academically and socially.
Candidates may work on site as W2 contractors with access to comprehensive benefits, or virtually with a 1099 contract—virtual educators must provide liability insurance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Special Education teaching credentials applicable to Maine requirements
- Prior experience working within elementary resource programs
- Familiarity with life skills and/or behavior intervention strategies highly preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Comfortable utilizing data-driven instruction and documentation
- Proficiency with technology, especially if considering a virtual role
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver resource-level instruction and support for 4th and 5th graders
- Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families
- Address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students
- Maintain required records and progress reports in a timely manner
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment
