Director of Business Development

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to develop new business opportunities, strengthen client partnerships, and support the growth of a diverse construction portfolio. What You'll Do: Develop and execute strategic business development plans to identify and secure new project opportunities across public and private markets. Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and key industry stakeholders. Research market trends, competitive intelligence, and political landscapes to identify emerging opportunities and inform business strategies. Collaborate with Regional Leadership, Estimating, Marketing, and Operations teams to prioritize and pursue target projects. Lead pursuit strategies for RFQs, RFPs, presentations, and interviews to maximize win rates. Coordinate presentation development, messaging, and presenter coaching for client interviews and proposal submissions. Attend project progress meetings to maintain awareness of operational performance and strengthen client relationships. Gather customer feedback and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance client satisfaction and business performance. Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and professional organizations. Promote the company's services, capabilities, and brand while expanding market presence. Support strategic business planning initiatives and contribute to long-term organizational growth. Champion company culture, core values, Zero Harm initiatives, and sustainability programs while mentoring and developing team members. What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications , or a related field preferred. 4-6 years of business development experience, or 10+ years of relevant professional experience in the construction industry. Proven success developing client relationships and securing construction projects. Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, project delivery methods, and industry trends. Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated professional with strong organizational and leadership abilities. High level of integrity and commitment to exceptional customer service. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard business communication tools. Willingness to travel to client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
