Deputy Director

The client Deputy Director will help manage affordable housing and rental assistance programs, assisting with planning, improving, and launching housing programs and new initiatives. The role supports leadership by identifying opportunities to strengthen programs and services, while ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and internal policies. The client Deputy Director will oversee rental assistance programs such as Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Project-Based Voucher, and other assistance efforts. Responsibilities include monitoring program performance, using reports and data to track success and identify opportunities for improvement, increasing voucher utilization, building relationships with landlords, and promoting a positive resident experience that supports long-term housing stability. The role also involves representing the organization at housing meetings and community events, partnering with community organizations to expand resources, and coordinating efforts with public agencies, nonprofit partners, developers, and community stakeholders. The client Deputy Director will supervise and support staff through training, guidance, performance feedback, and help with onboarding and workload coordination across teams. The position will assist with tracking budgets, grants, contracts, and other program resources, and ensure daily operations align with organizational mission and goals. The role requires a bachelor’s degree, at least 3+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience, and 3+ years administering public or assisted housing programs, including working knowledge of Housing Choice Voucher programs and HUD-regulated environments; familiarity with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) structures, experience with budget and grant-funded programs or contracting, and strong communication and relationship-building skills are also expected, along with the ability to obtain required certifications and a commitment to equity and resident-centered practice.
