Shift Details

Night shift available: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are permanent staff at facilities outside of the specified system are eligible for a travel contract if separated for at least 3 months. Active compact licenses are honored at all facilities within the system. First-time travelers will not be accepted.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience required.
• Must possess surgical telemetry experience, including open heart surgery and vascular care.
• Proficient in radial band management and IV skills.
• NIHSS certification is preferred; optional experience with VAD or TAVR.
• Floating to similar units is required; flexibility is crucial.
• Every other weekend work is mandatory.

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Epic experience is a hard requirement.

Unit Overview

This position is within a Surgical Cardiac Telemetry Unit, primarily dealing with the following patient conditions:

• Myocardial infarction
• Primary arrhythmias
• Pre/post open-heart surgery patients
• Vascular surgery patients
• Coronary artery disease
• Heart failure
• Pre/post catheter lab interventions
• Stroke patients with cardiac involvement

Additional Responsibilities

• Administer breathing treatments and manage chest tubes.
• Provide CPAP/BiPap and trach care.
• Administer blood and blood products.
• Conduct cardioversion and defibrillation when necessary.
• Manage epicardial pacers and LVADs within post-operative care.
• Perform telemetry interpretation and manage dysrhythmias.

Patient Ratios and Staffing Model

The nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:4 across all shifts, which may increase to 1:5 at midnight.

• Daily census: 32 patients
• Number of beds: 36
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more.

Requirements Summary

• Prior charge experience preferred.
• Flexibility to float between similar units may be required.
