Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse - Medical / Surgical Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for our high acuity Medical/Surgical unit. The nurse will be working with a diverse patient population, including those requiring post-surgical care, trauma cases, and patients with complex needs such as gunshot wounds and those who are quadriplegic or paraplegic. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced surgical and trauma environment. Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective communication during handoffs. Monitor patient conditions and administer medications and treatments as prescribed. Utilize EPIC for documentation and management of patient data. Work closely with Nursing Support Technicians and other staff to maintain an optimal patient-to-nurse ratio. Qualifications Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical or related specialty. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred. Experience with EPIC electronic health records is mandatory. Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to staffing needs; block scheduling is not available. Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Patient Population and Support Staff The patient population includes surgical cases, trauma victims, and patients with significant disabilities. The unit provides support from Nursing Support Technicians, phlebotomists, and a unit secretary during night shifts. Patient Care Ratio The Nurse-Patient ratio is maintained at 5:1 to ensure comprehensive and focused patient care.
