Hackensack Health System is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Licensed Mental Health Therapist, specializing in geriatric mental health, to join our dynamic remote mental health team. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults, ensuring an understanding of their mental and physical health.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address cognitive changes, current physical health conditions, and social factors influencing the patient’s mental well-being.

• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy, specifically focusing on the psychiatric needs common among the elderly.

• Collaborate actively with geriatric psychiatrists and an interdisciplinary team to ensure integrated and comprehensive care for each patient.

• Provide crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, particularly those involving elderly patients, to stabilize and provide immediate care.

• Educate patients and their families on available treatment options, mental health conditions, and accessible community resources, facilitating a better understanding and engagement in the treatment process.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently.

• Engage in continuous professional development by staying informed about current research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

In this role, you will focus primarily on the geriatric population, assisting elderly individuals who may be experiencing a range of mental health challenges. This demographic often faces unique stressors, including but not limited to, the effects of aging, loss of independence, and complex medical issues. Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Active licensure as either an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in California.
\n
• Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health therapy, with a specific focus on geriatric populations preferred.

• Thorough knowledge of various geriatric mental health disorders and treatment modalities, as well as experience with relevant therapeutic interventions.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, exhibiting a patient-centered approach that fosters trust and rapport with elderly patients and their families.

• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment while delivering consistent, high-quality care.

Compensation and Benefits\n
