The environment is specifically designed for children, with well-equipped treatment spaces, pediatric-focused therapy tools, and a collaborative clinical culture. Occupational therapists work closely with other pediatric professionals and support staff to create a positive, engaging setting for children and families.Typical responsibilities include completing comprehensive pediatric OT evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering goal-oriented interventions that support functional progress at home, school, and in the community. The caseload may include children with developmental delays, sensory processing challenges, autism spectrum disorder, fine and gross motor skill deficits, neuromuscular disorders, and other pediatric conditions. Therapists provide both individual sessions and, when appropriate, small-group interventions, always emphasizing family education and caregiver training.A typical day may include scheduled 1:1 treatment sessions, new patient assessments, progress notes, updating plans of care, communicating with families and referring providers, and participating in team meetings or case conferences. Patient volume is structured to allow for thorough, quality care and appropriate documentation time. This outpatient pediatric setting generally operates daytime hours on weekdays, with potential for some flexibility in scheduling to meet family needs and clinic operations.The clinic utilizes an electronic medical record system to support accurate, efficient documentation, scheduling, and communication. Occupational therapists are expected to practice using evidence-based approaches, contribute to quality improvement efforts, and support a collaborative, supportive team atmosphere.
