Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU/Stepdown role requiring cardiac drip titration experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• PCU/Stepdown unit within a short term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center teaching hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to Telemetry or Med-Surg floors if overstaffed, with travelers prioritized for floating
• May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
• Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Cardiac drip titration and management experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and general telemetry care
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, PCA, and heparin protocols
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team utilization
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration preferred
• Cardiovascular experience including pacemaker management, post cardiac cath/surgery care, and sheath removal
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, may include Charge RNs/Leads
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac telemetry and stepdown patients, including monitoring, medication management, and emergency response
• Teaching hospital environment with preferred prior teaching hospital experience
• Preferred charge nurse experience
• All RN scrub colors accepted
• No fee parking available
• Candidates may select one holiday off, either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but not both
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• 48-hour work weeks approved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process; post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• Only one Providence facility submission allowed at a time
