26-27 Ay Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - Spanish (Mcll)

Position Summary The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures invites applications for a temporary faculty pool position as a Lecturer in Spanish. Successful applicants will teach Spanish 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A, 4B and additional courses as needed. Instructor Responsibilities Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, class projects, midterm and final exams. Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Adhere to university and system‑wide policies as directed in Academic Policy Manual 306. Conditional Appointment Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and is governed by the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement. New lecturer appointees are last in the order of work. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States; the university does not sponsor work visas for temporary faculty. Compensation Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and is within the CSU Salary Schedule. For temporary faculty with a Master’s degree, the monthly salary for full‑time (15 WTUs) is $5,*****,677. Presentee monthly salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Spanish or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Eligibility to work in the United States. Background check required; employment may be withdrawn or terminated based on the results. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Evidence of professional Spanish translation work. Application Procedures Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as teaching positions become available. Key dates include: Fall assignment review may begin June 15 of the current year; deadline July 1 for full consideration of Fall hiring. Spring assignment review may begin in the fall; deadline October 31 for full consideration of Spring hiring. Job announcement closing date is March 1 of the next year.
