Legal assistant (Municipal Court DUI preferred)

Position Overview
Ellman and Associates is seeking an experienced and highly motivated legal assistant with 5–10 years of legal experience, preferably in DUI matters. The ideal candidate is a strong legal writer, detail-oriented professional, and self-starter who can effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced law office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, draft, and file legal documents, pleadings, motions, correspondence, and court filings.
- Assist attorneys with municipal court cases from inception through resolution.
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
- Manage case files, maintain accurate records, and organize supporting documentation.
- Coordinate court calendars, hearings, deadlines, and client communications.
- Draft reports, legal memoranda, discovery responses, and other litigation-related documents.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and government agencies.
- Monitor case progress and ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements.
- Utilize legal and office software systems to maintain case management and document organization.
- Perform additional administrative and paralegal duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of legal experience, with municipal court or litigation experience preferred.
- Strong legal writing, proofreading, and document preparation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated self-motivation, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal research platforms, case management software, and general computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with municipal court procedures, filings, and litigation support.
- Familiarity with electronic filing systems and legal document management software.
