Clinical Nurse II (RN) - Endoscopy (Limited Relief/Per-Diem, 10-Hour Day Shifts)

Overview The Clinical Nurse (CN) is an RN who provides hands‑on care to patients within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. The CN performs all steps of the nursing process: assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, evaluating care, coordinating with other providers, and teaching patients and families the knowledge and skills needed to manage care and prevent complications. The CN partners with the patient’s family to deliver family‑centered care and monitors the quality of nursing care provided. The CN is responsible for professional development, including licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Location Stanford Health Care Responsibilities Establish therapeutic relationships by creating a healing climate, providing emotional support, and guiding patients and families through illness and recovery. Obtain accurate assessment data, interpret findings, determine nursing diagnoses, and monitor stability. Collaborate with the patient, family, and health‑care team to develop individualized plans of care and safely implement interventions. Assess learning needs, teach self‑care and illness prevention, and adjust instruction based on patient responses and cultural variations. Teach and coach staff, including preceptor roles or super‑user instruction. Rapidly grasp problem situations, respond appropriately, activate emergency protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions. Monitor own practices, support quality practices for staff, and seek continual improvement in patient care. Organize multiple requests, set priorities, delegate tasks, and assist others as needed. Participate in unit programs, meetings, and shared governance groups to build teamwork and morale. Commit to lifelong learning, keeping current with nursing practice and sharing expertise with unit or hospital. Communicate effectively across formats and settings and demonstrate leadership in practice settings. Education and Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university (preferred). Ability to communicate effectively in English. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers. CA‑RN (Registered Nurse) license. Certifications and Licensing American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required by the cost center. Physical Demands and Work Conditions The job involves frequent lifting of patients and equipment, bending, stooping, and walking. The environment presents moderate risks such as exposure to contagious disease, radiation, infection, and emotionally disturbed patients. Protective clothing or gear may be required. Compensation Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $96.35–$111.14 per hour. The salary will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
